Noise paintings glorify the unwanted artifacts (dust/scratches) of old films. The dust and scratches from each frame of these films is transcribed onto canvas.

The below is from the first 3 minutes of the film Nosferatu from 1922. The dust from early frames is painted with a darker paint, and subsequently get lighter as the frames progress.
